Google AdWords: What Not To Do!

PETER WAKEMAN

This post will be very useful for those who are about to or are currently managing their own Pay Per Click (PPC) campaigns on Google AdWords. Many businesses do manage their own AdWords campaigns in-house and simply don’t know what they’re doing and end up wasting their money while getting poor ROI.

Now there is a lot of things to consider when doing your own Google Adwords campaign but for this post i’d like to share just one of the many mistakes people make, please observe the picture below:

Google Adwords in Action

Notice how my search for a muay thai gym in Bangkok brings back a sponsored link for a website "North Jersey Muay Thai” now I’m not sure if this is a gym or a training program, I assume its a gym in Jersey, USA. This ad is pretty much useless and a waste of money. If I am from Thailand how is this ad going to benefit me at all? So first things first, if you are offering a service in a particular location you probably shouldn’t advertise to the whole world.

Now to explain why I’m not sure if this is a gym or a training program etc, take a look at the picture below.

Google AdWords

After clicking the Ad, the link takes me to their home page that has to be pre-loaded, this will instantly cause a high percentage of people to exit off the page therefore wasting your money. Actually thats what I did when I first came to the page, but then I realized what poorly setup AdWords campaign (and website) and a great example to use for my students, and potential clients. So I clicked on the ad again and went back to the page, however it wouldn’t load past 4% on the loading screen. I opened a new my FireFox browser and it still wouldn’t load past 4%. Essentially this business is wasting their money on this PPC campaign because it has not been setup correctly, and the landing page isn’t suitable.

There are a couple of solutions to this problem. Hire Marketing Bangkok to setup and manage your Google AdWords and other PPC campaigns so we can optimize the ad, target audience and landing page for maximum affect and ROI, or attend one of Marketing Bangkok’s courses on SEO and learn how to setup, run, and maintain Google AdWords properly.
